Kathmandu Day Tour

Even though Kathmandu is known as a busy business city, it’s also a wonderful place to visit for its rich culture and history. There are lots of special places to see, like 7 out of 10 UNESCO World Heritage Sites and more than 130 important monuments. Kathmandu Day Tour is a great way to explore these treasures.

The tour starts early in the morning with a visit to Kathmandu Durbar Square, where you’ll see many temples, palaces, and museums. Some of the highlights include the Taleju temple, Kumari house, Kasthamandap, and the ancient Hanuman Dhoka.

Next, you’ll go to Pashupatinath, a very important Hindu temple located by the Bagmati river. Here, you’ll see more temples, shrines, and holy men called Shadus.

In the afternoon, you’ll visit two sacred Buddhist sites: Boudhanath and Swayambhunath. Boudhanath is surrounded by shops and businesses, but it’s still a beautiful and peaceful place. You can walk around the stupa and spin prayer wheels. Swayambhunath sits on top of a hill and offers a stunning view of Kathmandu. You’ll see prayer flags, temples, and playful monkeys.

  • Morning: Visit Kathmandu Durbar Square 2 Hrs

After you finish your breakfast, you’ll meet our tour guide at the hotel. Our company van will pick you up and take you to Kathmandu Durbar Square, also called Basantapur Durbar Square. It’s right in the middle of the city and has lots of old temples, palaces, and ancient buildings. In the square, you’ll see Mahadev Temple, Shiva Parvati Temple, Bhagwati Temple, Kasthamandap, and Kumari House. Kasthamandap is special because it’s made from just one tree, and the name Kathmandu comes from it. If you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of the goddess at Kumari House.

  • Morning: Visit Pashupatinath | 2 Hrs

After you finish exploring Kathmandu Durbar Square, you’ll go for a drive to the sacred Pashupatinath temple. It’s a very important place for Hindu people. The temple is built in a special style called pagoda, and it’s covered in gold. Inside, there are lots of small statues called Shiva lingam. People use the platforms next to the Bagmati river for special baths and for cremating those who have passed away. Near Pashupatinath, there’s also another temple called Guheshwori temple, which is quite old, built in the 17th century.

  • Afternoon: Visit Boudhanath after Lunch | 1 Hr

Later in the day, you’ll head to Boudhanath. It’s a big, important place for Buddhists from all over the world. Boudhanath is the biggest stupa in Nepal. It was built a long time ago, around the 14th century. The stupa looks like a giant dome with a tower on top, which is called a pyramid. People also call it dome architecture. Around Boudhanath, there are streets and small paths with lots of Tibetan Buddhist monasteries, shops, places to eat, and colorful houses.

  • Late Afternoon: Visit Swayambhunath | 2 Hrs and evening walk to Hotel

Later in the evening, our van will take you to Swayambhunath, also called the Monkey Temple. It’s on a hill to the west of Kathmandu and has amazing views of the whole city. Around the stupa, there are other temples like Harati Devi temple and The Dewa Dharma Monastery. As you walk up the hill, you’ll pass lots of shops selling pretty paintings and crafts. After checking out Swayambhunath, you can enjoy a relaxing walk back to the hotel, where you can see how people live in Kathmandu.
