Lobuche Peak Climbing

Climbing Lobuche Peak is tough but loved by many climbers. The journey starts in Kathmandu, where you’ll visit UNESCO World Heritage Sites before flying to Lukla. From there, you trek through Sherpa villages like Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, and Dingboche, heading towards Everest Base Camp.

Along the way, you’ll see stunning views and cultural attractions. After reaching Lobuche village, you’ll head to Lobuche High Camp for the final climb. This part is challenging, with steep slopes and exposed ridges. You’ll need climbing gear like ropes, ice axes, and crampons.

Once at the summit, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of Everest and other peaks. After descending, you’ll trek back to Lukla via Pangboche village and Namche. Lobuche Peak is best climbed in spring (Mar-Jun) or autumn (Sep-Nov).

  • Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu and transfer to hotel (No meals) | 1,300m

    Upon your arrival at the airport, one of our representatives will meet you and accompany you to your hotel. There, you’ll meet your Sherpa guide and go over the trip plan together. If you have some free time, you can explore the neighborhood or nearby market to buy any gear or equipment you might need for the trip. Overnight, you’ll stay at the hotel in Kathmandu.

  • Day 02: Full day of sightseeing of Kathmandu valley (B)

    While we take care of getting the permits you need, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the sights of the Kathmandu Valley. This historical area boasts seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites, such as Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Swayambhunath, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. With the help of a tour guide, you’ll visit these places, which are wonderful examples of medieval Nepali culture and architecture. After your day of sightseeing, you’ll spend the night in Kathmandu.

  • Day 03: Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla and Trek to Phakding (B, L, D) | 2,610m

    You’ll take a quick 30-minute flight to Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla. Situated 140 kilometers northeast of Kathmandu, Lukla is the starting point for journeys into the Everest region. As soon as you arrive in Lukla, you’ll begin trekking towards the village of Phakding. The trek to Phakding is mostly downhill, and you’ll be following the Dudh Koshi River for the entire journey. You’ll spend the night in Phakding.

  • Day 04: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (B, L, D) | 3,440m

    After leaving Phakding, you’ll trek through the Dudh Koshi valley until you reach Jorsalle. A little past Jorsalle is the village of Monjo, which is the entry point to Sagarmatha National Park. Here, your permits will be checked before you continue on the trail to Namche Bazaar, a well-known Sherpa village. Namche Bazaar is a popular stop for trekkers and travelers exploring the Everest region. You’ll spend the night there.

  • Day 05: Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization (B, L, D)

    Today, you’ll take a break from trekking to acclimatize to the high altitude at Namche Bazaar. Namche is known for its lodges, restaurants, and shops. You can explore nearby villages like Khumjung and Khunde, where you can experience the Sherpa way of life and learn about their culture. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit the photo gallery and Sherpa Culture Museum to learn more about their lifestyle and traditions. If you’re up for it, you can also take a short hike to the Everest View Hotel. You’ll spend the night in Namche.

  • Day 06: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (B, L, D) | 3,860m

    After leaving Namche, you’ll trek through the Dudh Koshi valley until you reach the picturesque destination of Tengboche. Along the way, you’ll pass through Phunki Thanga and hike across rocky terrain to reach Tengboche. From there, you can enjoy stunning views of Ama Dablam (6856m) to the east. Tengboche is famous for its Tengboche Monastery, which is the largest Buddhist monastery in the area. You’ll spend the night in Tengboche.

  • Day 07: Trek from Tengboche to Dingboche (B, L, D) | 4,410m

    After leaving Tengboche, the trail goes downhill to Debuche village. Then, you’ll walk through a beautiful rhododendron forest. You’ll cross Imja Khola and continue towards Pangboche, passing by several monasteries along the way. Pangboche also provides a wonderful view of Ama Dablam (6856m). Following a scenic trail, you’ll reach the traditional Sherpa village of Dingboche, where you’ll spend the night.

  • Day 08: Rest day at Dingboche for acclimatization (B, L, D)

    You’ll take a break in Dingboche today to acclimate to the altitude. It’s a well-known spot for hikers and climbers to rest. Enjoy the stunning views of the nearby Chhukung and Imja valleys. You can also take a hike up to Nangkar Tshang (5616m) for even more breathtaking views of mountains like Lobuche East (6,119m), Lobuche West (6,145m), Taboche Peak (6,367m), and Ama Dablam (6,856m). Afterward, you’ll spend the night in Dingboche.

  • Day 09: Trek from Dingboche to Lobuche (B, L, D) | 4,910m

    Leaving Dingboche, you’ll trek through snowy moraines and rocky terrain until you reach Lobuche village. This small settlement is home to Sherpas and sits at the crossroads of the Lobuche Peak (6119m) and the Everest Base Camp Trail. In Lobuche, you’ll be treated to stunning views of Lobuche (6119m), Pumo Ri (7165m), and Nuptse (7861m). You’ll spend the night in Lobuche.

  • Day 10: Lobuche to Everest Base camp & Back to Gorakshep (B, L, D) | 5,364m

    From Lobuche, you’ll trek for about 3-4 hours to reach Gorakshep village, where you’ll find the Indian Army Mountaineers’ Memorials. The walk may be a bit challenging due to the thin air at higher altitudes. Once you’ve arrived, you’ll continue on to Everest Base Camp, which will take some more walking. At the base camp, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the Khumbu Glacier and take photos of the breathtaking scenery. You’ll also get to see majestic Himalayan peaks like Nuptse (7861m), Lingtren (6749m), and Pumo Ri (7165m). Afterward, you’ll trek back to Gorakshep for the night.

  • Day 11: Gorakshep to Kalapatthar & Back to Lobuche (B, L, D) | 5,550m

    You’ll begin your day early with a short hike to Kalapatthar, which requires some effort. Kalapatthar is a famous spot in the Everest region known for its stunning sunrise views. From there, you’ll get a close-up view of Mt. Everest (8848m) as well as other peaks like Lhotse (8414m), Cho Oyu (8188m), and Ama Dablam (6856m). After enjoying the scenery and taking a brief tour, you’ll return along the same path to Lobuche village for the night.

  • Day 12: Trek from Lobuche to High Camp (B, L, D) | 5,400m

    Today, you’ll trek along the Lobuche glacier to reach Lobuche High Camp. Starting from Lobuche village, the trail offers stunning views of Ama Dablam (6856m), Cholatse (6,335m), Thamserku (6,608m), and Kangtega (6,685m). After about 4 hours of trekking, you’ll arrive at the campsite. Here, you’ll spend time acclimatizing and preparing for the summit. Your guide will provide pre-climb training and essential tips for summit climbing. You’ll stay overnight at Lobuche High Camp.

  • Day 13: High Camp to Summit & Back to High Camp (B, L, D) | 6,119m

    You’ll start your climb to the summit early in the morning, around 2 am, to avoid bad weather. The climb begins with ascending the rock surface up to around 5,770m, then tackling the ice-wall. Fixed ropes will be there wherever necessary for support. The final part of the ascent involves navigating the challenging exposed ridge. At the top, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views of the entire valley, including Mt. Everest (8848m), Lhotse (8414m), Ama Dablam (6856m), Cholatse (6335m), and Pumo Ri (7165m). After reaching the summit, you’ll descend back to the high camp and stay overnight in Lobuche High Camp.

  • Day 14: Reserve day (B, L, D)

    This day is set aside in case the weather was bad the day before, and the climb had to be canceled. If the climb was postponed, then today you’ll start your ascent towards the summit again and complete the climb.

  • Day 15: Trek from Lobuche High Camp to Pangboche (B, L, D) | 3,930m

    After breakfast, you’ll walk back along the same path and begin descending to Pangboche village. Passing through Lobuche village, you’ll continue on to Pheriche. Then, you’ll descend even further until you reach the charming village of Pangboche. In the evening, you can visit the Pangboche monastery if you’d like. Overnight in Pangboche.

  • Day 16: Trek from Pangboche to Namche Bazaar (B, L, D) | 3,440m

    From Pangboche, you’ll follow the same route back, crossing the Imja Khola and Dudh Koshi River. Along the way, you’ll traverse a suspension bridge and walk through vibrant forests filled with rhododendron and juniper trees. You’ll pass through the well-known village of Tengboche, where you have the option to visit the Tengboche Monastery if you haven’t already. Then, you’ll continue on to Namche Bazaar. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.

  • Day 17: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla (B, L, D) | 2,800m

    Today, you’ll return to Lukla by trekking through Monjo and Jorsalle villages. The trail involves a steep path that leads to Phakding via Monjo before reaching Lukla. This trek is quite long and will take approximately 6-7 hours to complete. Once you arrive in Lukla, make sure to get plenty of rest. Overnight in Lukla.

  • Day 18: Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel (B) | 1,300m

    You’ll take an early morning flight back to Kathmandu, where you can enjoy a final aerial view of the Himalayas. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, our company representative will accompany you back to your hotel. In Kathmandu, you can immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of the city and explore the rich Newar heritage around your accommodation. Overnight in Kathmandu.

  • Day 19: Leisure day in Kathmandu (B)

    Today is a free day for you to spend as you wish. You can explore the city, relax at the hotel, or visit the bustling Thamel area for souvenir shopping. Keep in mind that flights from Lukla may be canceled due to bad weather, so you may need to return to Kathmandu today instead of yesterday. Enjoy your time in Kathmandu and make the most of your leisure day. Overnight in Kathmandu.

  • Day 20: Transfer to international airport for your final flight departure (B)

    We’ll take you to Tribhuvan International Airport for your flight back home. It’s a good idea to leave for the airport about 2 hours before your flight to make sure you don’t miss it. If you ever want to come back and visit the Himalayas again, we’ll be here to welcome you.
